Research Interests
I am a vertebrate paleontologist and evolutionary biologist at the Bayerische Staatssammlung für Paläontologie und Geologie, in Munich, Germany. My research focuses on the patterns and processes of biological diversification in vertebrate lineages via an integrative approach that involves cutting-edge morphometrics and biogeographic and phylogenetic techniques. Research interests include anatomy, taxonomy, phylogenetic relationships, and historical biogeography of Mesozoic reptiles (e.g., non-avian dinosaurs such as hadrosaurids, crocodylians, and birds), as well as the quantitative analysis of morphological variation. The latter consists of specimen-based research implementing and developing novel geometric morphometric techniques (applicable in both invertebrate and vertebrate evolutionary biology). Ancilliary interests include soft tissue and behavioral attributes in fossil vertebrates using extant outgroup taxa as models.
